Great Britain Senior Squad

Ben Banks represented the Club at the first Great Britain Senior Squad of 2009, with selection for the European Championships in Ylitorio, Finland, at stake. All those invited worked up to 80-90% of their best lifts, in order to justify their place on the team. Selection was overseen by Team Manager, Ralph Farquharson and Team Coach, Tony Stevens.

There was a strong Greater London presence at the Squad, with Rodney Hypolite and Rob Palmer also looking for selection at 67.5kg and 82.5kg respectively. The preliminary nominations are already up on the European site (www.europowerlifting.org), with the entry list being finalised in mid April, as each country finalises the selection of their international team. The preliminary list suggests that this will be another large and competitive competition, with 222 lifters initially put forward.
