World Junior Powerlifting Championships 2008

We are pleased to confirm that Faisal Ahmed Spaul from the British Barbell Team, and Daniel Taylor from the Club sessions have been selected to represent Great Britain at the World Junior & Sub-Junior Powerlifting Championships in Potchefstroom, South Africa. The team fly out on Saturday 30th August, with Spaul lifting in the Junior 125kg Class on Saturday 6th September, and Daniel competing in the Sub-Junior 90kg class on Friday 5th September.

In addition to the selection of the lifters we are pleased to confirm that three of the Club volunteers have been selected to coach & support the team. John Halfacre will maintain his position of Team Manager, in addition to drawing on his coaching and refereeing capacities, with Ben Banks as Assistant Manager and Coach and Rebecca Yeoh as Chaperone and Coach.

With the full list of lifters on the team still to be finalised, the Club will be hosting two further squad sessions for the Great Britain Junior & Sub-Junior Powerlifting Teams, as they hone their techniques in preparation for the strict refereeing that they can expect at the World Championships.
